From there he grew as an automotive technician in the independent shops of Northwest Indiana. Soon he found himself working in a GM dealership where he specialized in diesel and transmission repairs. From this his love for trying to understand all things mechanical grew. In 2018 Andrew found himself in a position to take over teaching duties at a local high school automotive program. • Josh Weaver - Dorman Training Center
Josh has an Associate in Applied Science in Automotive Technology. The program was backed by Chrysler and General Motors, and while in college he worked for a Ford dealership, which allowed him to learn all three domestic brands. After college, he went on to work at a Kia dealership, where he achieved his A.S.E and Kia Master Tech certifications. Josh is a certified Pennsylvania emissions and safety inspector, EPA 609 certified, and holds A.S.E. L1 and L3. He was the lead technician at the dealership, which allowed him to see some of the most difficult and challenging vehicle issues that came through the shop. This allowed Josh to hone his diagnostic skills, and teach his fellow technicians different approaches and diagnostic methods to solve problems. After being in the dealership for many years, Josh became the service manager for a six-bay independent shop, which owns a six-bay body shop as well. Running a shop of this size allowed him to see many different drivability issues, along with a lot of electrical and programming issues on the body shop side. Throughout his career, Josh has always been driven to learn new techniques and grow into a better technician. He has traveled around the country to take all the training he could and learn better techniques from the best instructors and technicians in the country. He then came back and applied what he learned in the shop, teaching the staff of technicians to help them rise to the next level. Josh’s passion for diagnostics led him to start his part-time mobile diagnostic business and also led him to develop and instruct some training classes for some of his local automotive chapters. Josh is constantly growing as a technician and improving his skills. He loves to see not just technicians, but all people grow and get better at whatever their goals or passion are. His goal is to help keep moving the industry forward and improving for the better, by helping technicians learn and grow.

Summary
Course objective is to take the pressure-transducer novice to a whole new level. The goal is for someone with labscope/engine mechanical operation knowledge, to gain the ability to capture pressure waveforms (from the intake manifold/tailpipe and in-cylinder) and be able to use the information to make diagnostic-decisions. The course will cover transducer functionality with both absolute transducers as well as delta transducers. It will touch on the benefits and characteristics of both types of transducers and how they can be used to gain an edge. Diagnostic-approach will be carried out using real world examples and actual case studies from my own library. Attendees leave with confidence to invest in the tooling to perform pressure testing and analysis to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Summary
This class covers modern vehicle network operation and how to efficiently diagnose them using common tooling. The overwhelming majority of network related issues do not require decoding of individual packets of data. It is important to understand how a network exchanges information, but a deep dive into the bits. bytes, nibbles and ticks of each network is not needed to repair the vehicle. Knowledge of the network type, the expected voltage levels, and the layout of the network wiring to the modules can provide us with enough information to gain diagnostic direction. At that point, we can use our available tooling to determine the root cause of the problem. Topics Include: • Understanding common automotive networks and where to get help if we don’t understand them • Discuss OE and aftermarket scan tool communication benefits and challenges • Learn how to develop a logical diagnostic approach using service information and our own tooling

Class 1: The POWER of POLICIES & PROCEDURE Oftentimes business owners sit around and dream up big ideas, but have no real direction for building or developing the plans needed to protect the day to day business flow. Let's take a look at those ideas and turn them into policies and procedures that give solid definition and direction to your business. It's easy to go astray and get lost in the day to day business, but feeling confident to exercise solid policies will help drive success. When you have established yourself as an expert in your field, it's monumentally easier to get them to schedule that appointment. How do we build authenticity? It is easy through clear communication, building trust in your brand, and sharing your authentic self online and in person. These days, we are saturated with an abundance of content.
